Sergio Rossi keeps alive the art of Italian craftmanship while being attentive to the environment.
Sergio Rossi is an Italian brand active in the design, production, distribution and sale of leather shoes and leather accessories for women. The history of Sergio Rossi is bound to the history of San Mauro Pascoli, a small village in Emilia-Romagna, where the company is located. Following his father’s footsteps, Mr Sergio Rossi took over the business in 1951 and made the first hand-made sandals. For 70 years the brand has now been a leading benchmark in the luxury shoemaking sector and is renowned worldwide for its artisanship and for creating iconic models. When Riccardo Sciutto became the CEO of the company in 2016, his vision contributed to relaunching the brand, marking a new path in keeping with the brand’s aesthetic identity.
Care for Italian tradition and the environment
Today Sergio Rossi follows Sciutto’s vision and pledges to conduct business responsibly by incorporating economic, environmental, and social factors into all business processes and operations. As stated in their Policy, “sustainability” for Sergio Rossi means the ability to pursue quality and artisanal excellence while also supporting environmental preservation and social responsibility. At Sergio Rossi people are the core of the industry: the artisans and technicians are the ones that keep alive Mr Sergio Rossi’s vision. Thanks to their skills and know-how the company keeps on being an international example of excellence. For this reason, Sergio Rossi feels the responsibility to maintain the craft of shoemaking alive and uses it to help the community and the region in which it operates. Therefore, the brand is proud to highlight the fact that it relies exclusively on Italian leather suppliers for its needs, 22% of which are local suppliers. In addition, all the leather used to produce outsoles has been certified by the Leather Working Group, a non-profit organisation responsible for one of the world’s most prestigious environmental certifications in the leather manufacturing industry. This certification programme aims to reduce the environmental effect of the leather industry, demonstrating the effort Sergio Rossi puts into a more responsible production.
