Sustainable Management of Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola

Addressing climate change by re-thinking waste from the fashion industry.

Formula Imola S.P.A is a private company that manages the “Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari” in Imola and is based in Piazza Ayrton Senna Da Silva 1. It is responsible for temporarily making the circuit’s facilities available to third parties or hosting technical tests, vehicle trials, driving courses, races, sporting events, entertainment and cultural events in general, concerts, and fairs. The company has 9 employees and is controlled by the Municipality of Imola.

The Autodromo encompasses the entire area within the outer perimeter fences of the facility, including public and private properties within it. Everything, in fact, is intended to be functional, legitimately dedicated or involved, directly or indirectly, in the activities of the Autodromo. In this therefore a public park, other sports facilities (municipal stadium and tennis courts), the roads connecting the facilities and some commercial activities.

The activities of the Autodromo comply with the policies of the International standard ISO 201211, such as:

  • Minimizing consumption and waste production
  • Managing natural resources as well as possible
  • Directing suppliers toward sustainable choices and behavior
  • Ensuring access to and enjoyment of its services and activities even for vulnerable people
  • Ensuring compliance with current environmental, health, safety and labor regulations

In addition, the circuit has achieved the third level of the FIA Enviromental Accreditation Program2, which is addressed to worldwide motorsports stakeholders and monitors their environmental performance. The Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari is one of the few circuits in Europe to have obtained this relatively recent certification.

This demonstrates the company’s commitment to environmental and social sustainability, contributing to the achievement of the goals set by the united nations: in fact, the project for the coming years is to make the circuit a place representative of “Made in Italy” and to be open to the public every day, so not only during sporting events.
